Although McDonald’s is planning on raising their menu prices, I don’t feel as to if any of the increase in price is actually going to return to the farms themselves. In the article in the Los Angeles Times by Emily Bryson York “McDonalds likely to raise price”, McDonalds prices they pay on ingredients like chicken, wheat, cheese is likely to go up 2 to 2.5% within the year 2011. Which in the end the price increase with be pass on to the consumer? In the article it also states that if McDonalds is mulling over a price increase this means that all of the other restaurant food chains will be doing the same thing. The reason being for the major of the increase is because of McDonalds being a commodity food rather than a necessity. What should Americans and those who like to eat fast food restaurants do? Should we eat less at these restaurants or should we stop eating there all together and what would that do the today’s economy?
